·       Canadian Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship

This scholarship plan identifies students with high intellect from Commonwealth countries applying to programs of higher education and research at the Master’s and Ph.D. level programs. The award includes travel fare, basic living expenses, and tuition fees. It also includes Graduate Students Exchanges (GSEP), which provide $10,000 for transportation, living, and other expenses to stay in Canada for 5-6 months.

·       National Research Council of Canada (NRCC)

The NRCC scholarship is offered to students holding master’s degrees in engineering and Ph.D. in programs such as natural science or engineering.

·       Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute

It offers numerous scholarships and fellowships at different levels starting from graduate to post-doctorate and from research to training fellowships. Shastri Research Student Fellowship is available for students who have enrolled themselves in the Bachelors, Masters, and M.Phil. Degree programs in the recognized Indian universities or institutions to undertake research-oriented work in their preferred areas/ fields in a Canadian university.

The eligible students can also pursue an online course (complete module/partial course), or do an e-internship at Canadian universities, that comes under the SICI network. The amount of this scholarship and fellowship ranges from CAD 500-1,000. The duration of the scholarship is up to 8-12 weeks for students

·       Ontario Graduate Scholarship Program

This scholarship program is for graduate students covering a wide variety of study programs. As a pre-requisite to applying for a scholarship, students must accept an offer from a university in Ontario and also obtain a valid study permit. The scholarship amount is $5,000 per session. So accordingly you will receive $10,000 for two consecutive sessions and $15,000 for three consecutive sessions.

The amount and duration of the scholarship are determined by the awarding graduate unit and its detail will be mentioned in your offer letter. The deadlines of the Ontario Graduate Scholarship Program are finalized by the current or proposed graduate unit.  

·       Ontario Trillium Scholarship

This scholarship was first announced in November 2010. It is only for doctoral students from around the world who want to study in Ontario. Each scholarship is worth $40,000 per annum and is renewable for a maximum period of four years. Under this program, 75 scholarships are awarded every year. The Ontario universities are solely responsible for choosing and awarding the scholarship to Indian Ph.D. students based on the set merit and program criteria.

·       Quebec Provincial Government Scholarship

This scholarship plan is for students who are studying in Quebec. It provides financial assistance to students at master’s level or above programs. Each application is assessed on a merit basis. The value and duration of the scholarship are determined by the level of study program: Doctoral program: $25,000 per annum and duration are up to 3 years with a possible extension of 12 months.

Postdoctoral scholarships are $35,000 for one year and they can’t be renewed. Short-term research or professional development scholarship program amounts to $3,000 monthly for 4 months.
